Oscar Nomination 2014

With the amount of attention that is given to the actors and pictures at the Oscars Nominations 2014, it is difficult if you are a leading lady in one of the movies, even if you've been nominated. But, in this article, I'm going to forget about everything else and just discuss a few of the best actress nominees for an Oscar in 2014:

1. Sandra Bullock- Sandra Bullock has a long and illustrious career that spans over more than 20 years now and it's nice to see her finally getting noticed for her work. She won an Oscar for the Blind Side in 2009 and is nominated in the same category once again this year. Whether she will be able to stand up to her competition or not is yet to be seen although considering the fact that she is probably the most seasoned actress (after Judi Dench of course) in the lineup, she stands a pretty good chance of winning the prize this year as well.

2. Amy Adams- She made her way into pop culture with her portrayal of Lois Lane in Man of Steel but, her portrayal of Sydney Prosser in this movie is what showcases her true talents. She has been showing a lot of improvement in recent times and here complete acting repertoire seems to be used in this movie. There is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't give Amy Adams and American Hustle a chance and even if you aren't the kind of person who is into these types of movies, I can guarantee you that this movie will leave you with a whole different opinion of American cinema and Amy Adams.

3. Judi Dench- Considering the fact that her portrayal of M in Skyfall was close to disastrous, it really is amazing how one actress can go from right at the bottom to right at the top. Now, you can't expect too much from her (being 79 years old) but the little that she does give is more than enough to hold an entire movie together. It's a pity we had to wait so long to see her in one of her best acting roles and she is brilliantly supported by Steve Coogan on Philomena. Both actors enjoy a great camaraderie throughout the movie and you will certainly have answers for any questions you may have as a mother once you see this movie. This movie isn't about violence or action or even comedy. It is just a simple movie about a simple woman who sets out to find her son after not being in touch with him for 50 years. A must watch indeed.
